Our Story
God has truly done a great work at Freedom.

A Brief History of Freedom Baptist Church:

  • October 1999:  Members begin meeting in the home of Bro. Ronney Seal. A charter is
    granted in December of the same year.

  • February 2000: A trailer is purchased and remodeled to serve as a sanctuary. First
    services are held in May.

  • February 2001: Bro. Ronney graduates to heaven. The members vow to continue
    the church that God has built.

  • October 2001: Bro. Pete Bennett called as pastor. The church sees new growth and
    begins searching for a larger sanctuary.

  • July 2003: Freedom purchases the former Grace Baptist Church building and begins
    remodeling. There is much work to be done to restore the house of God.

  • November 2003: Move-in day! First services held in the new building.

  • January 2005: Bro. James accepts the call to pastor and a new portion of our
    "family" comes home.

  • August 2005: We get to remodel again, thanks to Hurricane Katrina. The fellowship
    hall gets a new roof, and plans for an expansion begin.

  • May 2008: Freedom hosts its first tent revival, attempting to canvas the city for
    Christ. Services are broadcast nationally through the ministry of Bro. Steve Brown.

  • March 2009: Freedom takes on three new missionaries: Bro. Tom Sooter, Bro.
    Mike Ragland of Living Waters Youth Camp, and Bro. Steve Brown. These three
    men have been tremendous blessings to us, and we thank God that He is allowing us
    to help in His work.

  • Today: We celebrate over nine years in the service of the Lord. We grieve over the
    losses of our friends and loved ones, yet laugh over the "remember-whens". We
    thank God for His blessings on Freedom and look forward to all He has in store for
    us. Pray for our continued growth and well-being, because

                            Except the LORD build the house, they labor in vain that build it.
                                                                                                                            Psalm 127:1a
Where there is no vision, the people perish:
                                                                                                      Proverbs 29:18a
O give thanks unto the LORD;
call upon his name:
make known his deeds among the people.
Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him:
talk ye of all his wondrous works.
Glory ye in his holy name:
let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.
Seek the LORD, and his strength:
seek his face evermore.
Remember his marvellous works that he hath done;
his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

Psalm 105:1-5
