Our Pastor
About Bro. James Lyle
Bro. James was raised in Pearl River, LA. He remembers
leading songs and teaching at the Baptist church where he
grew up. Bro. James was saved while riding a red Snapper
lawnmower in 1986 when he was 15 years old. His pastor
at the time was Bro. Raymond Fussell. Bro. James has an
obviously special relationship with Bro. Raymond, and is
very thankful for the man of God preaching the Word of
God. At the age of 20, God converted Bro. James and
shortly thereafter called him to preach His Word. But Bro.
James tried to outrun God.
In the meantime he married Ms. Kelli Moore. Sis. Kelli is
the daughter of Bro. Ricky Moore who pastors Victory
Baptist Church in Pass Christian, MS. Bro. James and Sis.
Kelli went on to have two beautiful daughters, Kara and
Kaitlyn. God reminded Bro. James who was in charge
when Kara had to have her second open heart surgery at
the age of 4, and Bro. James finally surrendered to God's
call. Bro. James went on to preach for five years.
In those five years, he preached in many churches,
revivals,and camp meetings before accepting the
pastorate here at Freedom in Jan 2005. A couple of
churches had called Bro. James to pastor before, but he
knew that wasn't God's will. However, when he preached at
Freedom, he knew even before the church actually called
him that God was calling him to pastor. Since then, we
have seen God move in many areas at Freedom, and we
are looking forward to see how God is going to use
Freedom in the future.
